Enforcement has become active
The Digital Infrastructure Authority and national consumer authorities enforce it. Complaints from users with a disability lead to formal procedures. This is no longer "nice to have".
Tenders exclude inaccessible suppliers
Governments, corporates and healthcare organisations require WCAG 2.2 AA compliance as a minimum. No compliance means no invitation to tender.

Multimedia accessibility
Video captions, audio transcripts, autoplay behaviour. Legally required for both content and advertising.

Does the EAA apply to my company?
The EAA applies to all commercial websites, apps and webshops in the EU that serve consumers — with an exception for micro-enterprises with fewer than 10 employees and under €2 million revenue. Most SMEs do fall under it. If in doubt: plan an intake, and you'll know for certain.
What are the actual fines?
It differs per member state. In the Netherlands, fines can run up to €21,750 per violation. More important than the fine is often the reputational damage and the obligation to fix within a short deadline — under time pressure, legal pressure, and public visibility.
What does it cost to fix the issues?
Strongly dependent on the current state. A recent, well-built website often needs €1,000-€3,000 worth of fixes. An outdated WordPress site or custom webshop can cost €5,000-€15,000. The audit report includes a cost estimate per issue — so you can decide what comes first.
Can I carry out the fixes myself?
Technical fixes (alt text, contrast, aria labels) are often doable yourself if you have a capable developer. Structural issues (e.g. inaccessible dropdown menus, SPA routing problems) need deeper work. The report is written so a developer can act on it directly.
How often do I need to repeat an audit?
After the first audit and fix: an annual check or after every major release. Accessibility isn't a finish line but a maintenance status, like security. We offer annual re-auditing from €400.
Does accessibility improve my SEO?
Yes, indirectly. Google's ranking factors overlap strongly with accessibility principles: semantic HTML, alt text, clear heading structure, fast load times, good mobile experience. Accessible sites score on average 10-15% better on SEO metrics. Compliance and conversion — the same investment.
